Melatonin Use Safety:
Melatonin occurs naturally in the body and is markedly safe for many levels of use.
In long-term research studies, continued use of melatonin supplementation up to 500 mg have not produced any reportable adverse side effects. Recommended use of Ascent Instant Nasal Spray delivers 0.6 mg of melatonin, yielding a therapeutic index (ratio of toxic dose to therapeutic dose) of at least 833. For comparison, acetaminophen (Tylenol/Advil) is much more toxic with a therapeutic index of only 2.5.
